After moving to NYC in 1986, I joined the Lower East Side Printshop, and completed many series of gum bichromate and other experimental media artworks on paper. Themes explore the challenges of emerging artists such as discovering awareness of direction (Polaris); urban search for poetic meanings in survival (Food City City Food); Hand-made in contrast with machine made images such as the threat and beauty of the egg beater, questions about and generation of authenticity (Sargasso, Hand Prints, Hat to Beuys, Canoe Man).
This style of working through multiples associated with mythic concepts became source for the Words, don’t leave home without ’em exhibition at Hofstra University in early 1988.
